Why can’t you clean my rug in my house?

Three things happen at our wash plant that we can’t do in your house, all leading to a cleaner rug.  We give it a thourough dusting to remove dry soil.  We do an immersion wash in most cases, completely flooding the rug with water and cleaning solution.  We rinse the rug in our centrifuge, a 12 foot long machine that spins 85% of the water out in two and a half minutes.  If we just clean your rug at your house, we are barely scratching the surface.

What method of cleaning do you use?

As professionals we are trained in using a variety of cleaning methods. We normally use the method recommended for and required by the rug fiber type and construction. In most cases this will be an immersion wash in our plant.  A woven rug is totally flooded with water and cleaning solution to wash it.  A tufted rug will only be surface washed to preserve the integrity of the glue inside.  All rugs get a thorough dusting before any wash.

Can you remove pet urine spots and stains from my carpet?

Pet accidents can be complex. The type of fiber and construction, dog or cat urine, the volume of liquid or solid waste, and even the diet of the pet can greatly affect the outcome. Often we are able to achieve satisfactory results using an enzyme treatment in an immersion wash.  Discolorations, unfortunately, are sometimes permanent.

Does my rug really need dusting? I vacuum it…

We are often surprised by the amount of dry soil we can remove from a rug in our dusting area.  We use two different machines to gently beat the back of your rug and vibrate it, freeing up the dry soil to be swept into a pile on our floor.  If you ask, at this point we would be happy to send you a picture of the dust that came out of your rug.

What does it cost?

The price varies, just as cleaning method does, with the fiber type and construction of the rug.  It can be $3 per square foot for a tufted wool rug, $4 per square foot for a woven wool rug, even $5 per square foot for a flat weave or unstable dye.  There is a custom price for a custom cleaning.  Other considerations that may affect price are the addition of protectant, the presence of bleeding or pet stains, or te otherwise fragile nature of a given rug.

Why are your prices higher than the coupons I receive in the mail?

Carpet cleaning is not a commodity. Service, quality and expertise will vary. In most cases you get what you pay for. We also believe in straight forward pricing and do not have hidden charges.

How do I get my rug to you and get it back?

We offer pick up and delivery services for area rugs for $65 each way to send a couple techs and a van.  This service includes any furniture moving necessary to remove and replace the rug.  You are also welcome to bring in your own rug to our plant.  Please call first to make sure someone is there to receive you.

How often should I have my rugs cleaned?

It depends entirely on the amount of traffic your rugs see, but we usually recommend washing them about once every year.  Higher traffic areas like a well used family room should be more frequent.  The living room rug no one ever walks on should still be cleaned regularly due to SoCal air quality, but it could easily wait 2 to 3 years in-between washes.
